A one-off Harley-Davidson with 630 diamonds
A challenger to Jack Armstrong’s Cosmic Starship V-Rod, the Harley Davidson Bucherer Blue Edition cost the equivalent of AU$ 3 million when it was unveiled in 2018 in Zurich.

Built in Switzerland in cooperation with the company Bündnerbiker, this ultra-extravagant machine took one year to build, taking more than 2500 hours.

The Harley-Davidson Bucherer Blue Edition is certainly a stunning work of art and a study in extravagant, unnecessary luxury. It was the most expensive motorcycle ever made when it was first unveiled to the public.

The Blue Edition received the Harley-Davidson seal of approval and was a collaboration between Swiss jeweller and watchmaker Carl Bucherer and custom motorcycle company Bündnerbike, beginning life as a 2017 Softail Slim S with the 110ci motor and has a hardtail rear, springer front end, copper details and a handcrafted slash-cut short exhaust.

The bike comprises 630 diamonds, a unique watch from Bucherer (based on the Patravi TravelTec II) and many gold-plated parts (including the back of the mirrors, screws and bolts). Under six layers of trademark Bucherer iridescent blue paint, the frame is actually silver-plated. The method of achieving this final, eye-popping colour is, however, a trade secret.

While Carl Bucherer claims this is the most expensive Harley-Davidson in the world, Armstrong’s Cosmic Starship still holds that title. Sorry Carl.
