  1. Heritage is where it's at

    By Dave - http://backonthebike.com.au March 11, 2019

I ride a 2005 Softail Deluxe and wanted to update but found the new Deluxe has changed and wasn’t really what I wanted so I had a look around the showroom. I was meet by one of the representatives and we started talking as you do in a bike shop. I was taken over to have a look at the Heritage Classic. Really retro especially the screen which is blacked out at the bottom though I wasn’t sure about visibility.

So a quick test ride. 14 years has made a difference and I didn’t know how much. The new rear end I could see was different but the bike handled differently to my Deluxe. Performance, the bigger engine just launched when I twisted the throttle and the noise coming out of the back was a perfect match. The brakes are now ABS.

The panniers are well designed and they definitely look waterproof which when I do a long trip can be important and the riding should be easier with a six speed box.

Now to get a trade in price for the deluxe but I have to get home to wash and polish it.

  2. Thats why I bought it

By old fart March 06, 2019

It’s a funny thing. I keep asking myself why I bought my harley. This is usually when I’m sitting down in front of the Tv during the week. On the weekend I ride it. Sometimes alone. Sometimes with friends. and that’s when I stop asking that question. I own and ride a Harley because I enjoy it. and I wanted a Harley that looked like a Harley and thats why I bought the Heritage. It was a close thing with the Deluxe but the big 114 engine got me over the line. I’m no spring chicken and I’ve worked hard all my life … for what? My Heritage is my answer.
